FIG. 01 — About

A short note on materials, fibres & surfaces.

I work at CEITEC — the Central European Institute of Technology — at Brno University of Technology, where I synthesise and functionalise nanofibres and thin films. I'm interested in what happens at the moment an atom meets a surface — and how that encounter gives rise to properties we didn't have before.

Lately I've been working on atomically-precise oxide deposition (ALD) onto centrifugally spun polymer fibres, antibacterial composites with ZnO nanocrystals, and palladium nanocubes for electrocatalytic hydrogen production. Working with materials is, for me, also a practice in precision and patience — things science teaches slowly, but well.

I write here when something feels too long for an abstract and too short for an article. Mostly about what was interesting in the lab last week, occasionally about reading outside the field.
